    Hypocrella calendulina Hywel-Jones & Mongkols. Mycol. Res. 113: 687 (2009)

Anamorph state: Aschersonia calendulina Hywel-Jones & Mongkols.

    Description:

    No description

    References:

Specimens were found on the underside of most monocotyledonous leaves (bamboo) but occasionally on dicotyledonous leaves of forest plants. Hosts are Hemiptera (scale insects). Stromata circular, flatteneddiscoid, yellow to dark orange, up to 8 mm in diam. and 1.5-2 mm high. Usually stromata were found bearing either the teleomorph or the anamorph. These two forms were rarely present in the same stroma. Perithecia scattered, crowded, immersed, elongated flask-shaped, 380-500 μm deep, 170-220 μm in diam., ostioles slightly projecting, translucent dark red-brown. Asci cylindric, up to 180 μm long, 10-12 μm wide. Ascospores whole, 8-spored, 130-150 x 1.5-2 μm, blunt at one end, tapering to the other end. In culture the colonies on PDA are slow-growing, attaining a diam. of 8 mm and producing conidia after ca. 4 wk on PDA at 20°C. Colonies stromatic with yellowish external mycelia, spore mass yellow to orange–yellow spreading over the stroma. Collections in Thailand have been made from Doi Inthanon National Park in the far north until Khao Pu–Khao Ya National Park in the south. Collections have been made throughout the year.
